すでに皆さんが述べられているように、わたしも、あなたのVAWW-NETの声明に対する意見は的を射たもので、zames_maki さんの感情的な批難はまったくの筋違いだと思います。

kmiuraさんがすでにご指摘になっていますが、読売新聞の記事自体が「慰安婦」の国家責任を認めたくない人たちがよく展開する論で、彼らは恣意的な「強制連行」の定義の拡大や縮小を行い、「強制連行がなかったら国家責任はない」と主張し続けています。藤岡信勝などは「女性を暴力的に拉致して「慰安婦」にしろ。」という軍の命令文書がなければ国家責任は証明できない（彼の解釈では「証明できない＝ない」ということになるようです）などと言い続けています。

ところで、この記事の英訳記事を"The Daily Yomiuri"が出しています。

felis_azuriさんが取ってくださった魚拓から日本語記事を、"Study of English"という「国家責任はない」としたい人のブログから英語記事を拾い出して対訳式に並べてみました。強調部分の中の下線部が「強制」もくしは「強制連行」に関する表現です。

第２次大戦中、日本がオランダ軍を追い払い軍政を敷いたインドネシアでは、収監されていたオランダ人女性が、日本軍兵士によって連行され、強制的に「慰安婦」にされた事件もおきている。

When Japan controlled Indonesia during World War II after ousting the Dutch military, detained Dutch women were taken by Japanese soldiers and forced to become comfort women against their will.

事態を知ったジャカルタの軍司令部は問題の慰安所を直ちに閉鎖し、女性たちを解放した。遺憾な事件であったが、軍が組織的に慰安婦を強制連行したのではないことを示す「反証」でもある。

However, Japanese military headquarters in Jakarta closed down the comfort station immediately after learning of the incident, and released the women.

This was indeed an unfortunate incident, but the story provides “counterevidence” that sinks allegations that the Japanese military systematically coercively recruited women into sexual service.

日本が繰り返し批判される背景には、１９９３年の河野官房長官談話がある。日本の官憲が組織的、強制的に女性を慰安婦にしたかのような記述があった。

One reason why Japan has been repeatedly dragged over the coals regarding the comfort women issue is the 1993 statement issued by then Chief Cabinet Secretary Yohei Kono. The statement suggested that Japanese officials systematically and coercively recruited women to be comfort women.

そうした事実を裏付ける資料はなく、「強制連行」を認めるよう迫る韓国側の圧力をかわすためだったことを、石原信雄元官房長官らが証言している。

これで明らかなように、読売新聞は「強制」もくしは「強制連行」の意味を混同しています。意識的なものか否かに関わらず、このあいまいな「強制連行」論に引きずられる反論は無意味どころか、この記事に散見される事実に反する記述、事実を歪曲する記述に対する具体的批判がなされないとなれば、まさに相手の思うツボなわけですね。

また、「慰安婦」問題について何も知らない人が英語記事を読んでも、この記事で何が言いたいのかはよく理解できないと思います。
